Anne Heche Declared Dead

Anne Heche, who crashed her car into a Los Angeles building one week ago, has been declared legally dead.

Heche was comatose in a hospital with severe brain injuries since August 5, the day of the fiery collision.

Since she lost all brain function, she is "legally dead" under California law, although her heart continues to beat as her family explores organ donation options.

A well-known actress from the 1990s, she was best known for the movies "Donnie Brasco" and "Six Days, Seven Nights".

Heche gained fame with the soap opera "Another World," for which she won a Daytime Emmy.

She was born on May 25, 1969, in Aurora, Ohio, the youngest of five children of Nancy Heche (née Prickett) and Donald Joseph Heche.

She lost her father Don to AIDS in 1983, when he was 45 years old. 2008 was the year that her estranged mother remarried.

Heche is survived by his two sons from two separate marriage

Her body was finally removed from life support on August 14 and would undergo the organ donation procedure that afternoon after organ recipients had been identified.
